“I’m not sure what my initial reasons for participating at UpReach were exactly. I was feeling rather stuck in a wheelchair after being treated for acute leukemia, and I was still mourning my lack of mobility. My physical recovery was the fastest, and most obvious to observe. It only took a few semesters of Therapeutic Driving at UpReach before I was ready Therapeutic Riding. Not long after that, I started leaving my wheelchair at home entirely. Before I began riding at UpReach, every step was agony. Now I can walk my dog for three miles on flat terrain or a two-mile hike through the woods, two things I never thought I would be able to do again.” ~ UpReach Participant

Our programs provide access and inclusion, foster compassion, and encouragement, personal goal achievement along with personal growth. Whether physical, emotional, or psychological challenges, UpReach provides an environment full of possibility, where the experiences are inspiring, and the therapeutic benefits are real.

UpReach helps individuals gain strength and expand their range of motion by participating in Therapeutic Riding and Driving.

UpReach supports youth and parents/guardians through Resilience Reins Trauma Intervention programming that offers a safe space to build trust, connection, and independence.

For individuals navigating substance misuse, UpReach horses helps to remind them not to dwell on past mistakes or worry about what might happen in the future. Horses remind us to be present and in the moment.
