Volunteer Opportunities

UpReach provides an opportunity for each volunteer to be a part of something larger - a community of passionate individuals enabling miracles every day! The rest of the world goes on hold as they become a part of and a witness to the connections made. The relationships built here transcend time in the barn.

“To say to someone, “yes, you’ve got this” has enriched my life...I come back every week to see what more we can accomplish. It really is all about making life a little bit better for someone else.”
— UpReach Volunteer

horse Leader:

As a horse leader or handler, you are responsible for the horse and should be alert and aware of the horse's behavior at all times. All those handling horses in therapeutic riding or driving lessons or hippotherapy sessions must attend both Taking the Lead and UpReach volunteer training.

UNMOUNTED VOLUNTEER

Barn help:

As a barn helper, you work directly with barn staff to assist with turning out horses to their paddocks, feeding, and mucking (aka cleaning) stalls. Those who wish to handle horses must attend a Taking the Lead training. However, those who want to help in the barn with feeding, mucking, scrubbing water buckets, and sweeping do not need to attend a training, but should commit to a specified, consistent time to help each week.

Internships:

There are a variety of unpaid year-round internship opportunities available to students enrolled in a degree program at a higher learning institute. Because of the professionalism and diversity of staff, we are able to meet the needs of individuals with a wide range of interest and majors as well as fulfill your course requirements.
